Omika Katoch, PhD

Omika is from Jammu, India. Her PhD dissertation was on “Application of histone decetylase inhibitor (HDACi) in Radiation Countermeasure”. She is currently interested in mouse genetics, making new murine knockout models with hematological pathophysiology and understanding the role of iron -senescence induced organ injury in Sickle Cell Disease. Outside science, Omika is a big fan of Bollywood movies and the "Allu Arjun".
Shweta is an undergraduate student at Carnegie Mellon University studying biology and biomedical engineering. She specializes in mice genotyping, qRT-PCR, and biochemical assays. Currently, she is working on understanding the roles of various clotting proteins in the progression of liver cirrhosis. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, reading, and playing the piano.
Ziming is an undergraduate microbiology student at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Microbiology with a minor in Chemistry and a Certificate in conceptual foundations of medicine. Currently, he is studying the effect of aging on the liver sinusoidal structures (using bioinformatics and statistical analysis of liver intravital images). In his free time, he enjoys playing musical instruments and cooking south asian delicacies.
Corinne is an undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in neuroscience and pursuing minors in chemistry and French as well as a certificate, Conceptual Foundations of Medicine. She is interested in getting involved in a laboratory setting and learning more about emerging fields of science and medicine. In her free time, she enjoys listening to music, spending time with friends and family, and cooking new recipes.

Isabel is an undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Emergency Medicine and pursuing minors in chemistry and History as well as a certificate, Conceptual Foundations of Medicine. She is interested in getting involved in learning different imaging techniques in the lab. In her free time, she enjoys reading, experimental cooking and baking.
